A unilateral refer on newborn screening

Vignette

A healthy term baby has a unilateral 'refer' on otoacoustic-emission newborn screening and is booked for diagnostic assessment at six weeks of age. The infant sleeps naturally for testing.

Test findings

1000 Hz tympanometry is normal bilaterally. Tone-burst threshold ABR shows responses to low intensities at all frequencies in both ears; estimated thresholds are within normal limits.
